The 2020 Trial Garden Visitor Favorites

Visitors to our 2020 summer trial gardens vote for their favorite new varieties.  We’ve tallied their votes and are eager to announce the top 5 visitor favorites!

#1:  Petunia Bee’s Knees

Our trial garden visitors were buzzing about Petunia Bee’s Knees from Ball FloraPlant all summer long, so we weren’t surprised to see this land in the number one spot! It’s simply stunning. Abundant deep yellow flowers that held their color throughout the Michigan sun and heat and a beautiful rounded habit make this a WINNER!

#2:  Petunia SPLASH DANCE™ Magenta Mambo

This variety made a huge splash with our trial garden visitors this summer!
SPLASH DANCE™ is Danziger Annuals & Perennials’ brand new speckled petunia series, and Magenta Mambo was our visitors’ second favorite new variety. It wowed our guests with its vibrant purple flowers, multi-colored specks, and a controlled mounding habit.

#3:  Rudbeckia Rising Sun® Chestnut Gold

Our third top-vote-getter displayed beautiful flowers throughout the entire summer! Rudbeckia Rising Sun® Chestnut Gold from Green Fuse Botanicals is a daylength-neutral annual, and its stunning bi-color blooms wowed us all summer long!

#4:  Petunia Itsy™ Magenta

This was an MYP exclusive in 2020 that will be new to the whole market in 2021. It occupied a position of honor atop the pergola in our trial garden this summer, and with its vibrant color and versatility in raised beds and combinations, we weren’t surprised that Petunia Itsy™ Magenta from Syngenta Flowers North America was our #4 vote getter this summer!

#5: Begonia BIG® White Green Leaf

Begonia BIG White Green Leaf from Benary is exactly what its name says:  BIG!  This white variety round out the series’ color range and its an excellent shade-brightening option with amazing summer-long performance.
